Lis Bellerose - High School Beginnings (Generation 3, Chapter 27)

 High School Beginnings

Lis Bellerose is entering the next phase of life: her teen years! Drama, exploration, and more await her as she takes her first steps into the world of Copperdale High School. She'll make new friends and see old ones, and maybe come across old enemies... but first, a birthday party, of course!

The rest of Lis's childhood seemed to have flown right by since her trip to Camp Gibbi Gibbi. Channing and Aeris were still her best friends, and she regularly hung out with them after school. Over the next couple days, they would have their birthdays as well, and they would all begin high school together.
Arabella couldn't believe how quickly her adoptive daughter had grown up. It seemed like only yesterday that Lis was talking nonstop about adventures with her stuffed toy, Pixie, and now she was starting high school?

The party was a small affair, nothing as fancy as the destination events her cousins had gotten for their entry into Young Adulthood. But Lis didn't mind, she just wanted to eat some cake and dance! Almost everyone had work or school to get back to, so the party was planned to be a relatively quick one.

Lis entered her teenage years with a new aspiration and a new piece of her identity. Her experiences at Camp Gibbi Gibbi had made a lasting impression on her personality, and she absolutely Loved the Outdoors.
She hadn't been the best student in elementary school, but she was determined to change that now. Her aspiration was to be Goal Oriented, to be the best student in her class- maybe even graduate as Valedictorian, like her cousin Ella.
Arabella couldn't be any prouder of the beautiful young woman Lis was becoming.

Lis started making rounds among the guests at the party, chatting with her cousins. She liked Ella and Aurelia the best so far, probably because they were closer to her age. Ella was an absolute sweetheart, and talked endlessly about Ciudad Enamorada and how beautiful it was, inviting Lis to come visit her cafe sometime. Aurelia was very nice and polite, but seemed a little stressed out and tired. She was in University, so Lis guessed it was from that.
Overall, very pleasant talking to both of them.

When those two moved on, Eirwen swooped in to take their place. Lis hadn't had much contact with this mysterious goth cousin, but she seemed pleasant enough, even if a bit odd. She owned a bar and nectar shop in Nordhaven, it seemed.
Eirwen invited Lis to visit as well, but Lis politely turned that one down. She was pretty sure nectar was only for adults, and something felt just a little off about her.

The party came to an end all too soon- everyone had to be getting home, after all. Lis bid Ella goodbye, with a promise to come visit her cafe soon.
And then, it was time to go home and get settled. Her high school orientation would be tomorrow, but classes wouldn't start in full until after Harvestfest.

That evening, Lis headed outside and spent some time practicing her archery. She was getting quite good now, and could use the more advanced bow if she wanted to, but she quite liked the look of the intermediate bow.

While Lis was practicing, Peter joined her outside. "I have another gift for you, Lis." He told her.
Lis lowered her bow, turning to give her father her full attention. "Really?" She grinned. Peter handed her a long, narrow package. When she opened it up, she found a wooden training sword inside.
"I'll get you a proper one as soon as I have a chance to travel to Ondarion. But you've enjoyed archery so much, I thought you would like to try swordsmanship too."

Lis was over the moon- so this was what the dummy in the back yard was for! As soon as she'd gotten her new sword out of the packaging, she started practicing. She wasn't very good at all, her blows glancing and clumsy, but she was sure she would get the hang of it soon enough.
    And man, it was fun!

Lis kept practicing until Arabella called her inside for dinner. Between archery and her new swordsmanship practice, her shoulders were aching fiercely, and she was more than happy to sit down and enjoy her mother's cooking.
Family dinners were rare, with what odd hours both her parents worked, but at least one of them was always there. And they did important work! Peter was a Space Ranger, keeping their planet safe from those who wished to do them harm, and Arabella was a Doctor. It was hard to think of a career more important than those two, but Lis was biased.
Lis and Arabella talked long after their plates were cleared, but before it got too late Arabella sent her off to bed. She would have to be up early, after all.

Lis's morning began in the office of Aurianna Celeste, the Principal of Copperdale High School. "We are pleased to have you with us, Miss Bellerose. We will begin with a tour of the school, and then you will meet Miss Thorne, who will be your teacher for the next few years. Our school has a few events we are quite proud of. There is a Career Day every other Wednesday, where the most accomplished parents can come and speak to the students in the auditorium. On the first and last Saturday of the season we will have Prom, which I'm sure you'll be excited for, and we have exams on the second and last Friday of every season."
"Now, those are the main things to be aware of, but we also have clubs and our building is equipped for building every skill- except horse riding, I'm afraid. There simply wasn't space on the grounds for a stable. But you'll find that we just recently had a Swordsmanship dojo put in, courtesy of Ondarion's Nobles..."
Lis was only half listening through the Principal's speech, itching to explore. The High School was nothing like she'd expected, it felt more like walking through an old castle than a school. She would live in a building like this, if she had the money.

When Principal Celeste was finally finished talking, she escorted Lis to Classroom 1, where Miss Thorne was already speaking to the other new students. Lis quickly recognized Channing among them, and stole the desk beside him.
She couldn't wait to go to school with her best friends- Aeris was around here somewhere too, she was sure.
Since it was the last day of term before Harvestfest break, there weren't any actual classes running, just new student orientations. All of the previously attending students had gotten the day off- lucky!

After the first assembly, Lis caught up with Channing out in the hall. He was as excited to see her as she was to see him, but it didn't take them long to catch up on what little had happened in the... three days, since they last saw each other.
"Are you going to join any of the clubs?" Channing asked her.
"I thought about doing Scouts or Cheer." Lis answered. "But I haven't decided yet. What about you?"
"Looking into the football team." Channing answered. "I think it'll be fun."

Among the new students were a couple of new transfers from Ondarion, including Lady Sophia Abrantes. To Lis's surprise, Sophia invited her to sit with her and Amarachi Darong during lunch. She'd honestly expected to be ignored by the noble newcomers, but they were actually quite pleasant! Sophia was bubbly and talkative, eager to tell Lis about Ondarion and hear from her about Glimmerbrook. Amarachi was more reserved but pleasant to talk to, full of creativity and knowledge of the arts.

After leaving Sophia and Amarachi, Lis finally caught up to Aeris. After exchanging their secret handshake, the two went to sit down and talk about the new school and the upcoming holiday.
"I love Harvestfest." Aeris declared. "It's one of the only times of year where Dad isn't busy with camp, and we can all spend time together."
"I like Winterfest best." Lis answered. "But Harvestfest is nice too. Ours is usually pretty small and cozy, but a lot of the extended family tries to get together for Winterfest."

At the end of the second assembly, which was mostly going over school policies and class schedules, Lis introduced herself to the girl sitting across from her. Oleracea Vegworth was another art loving, creative type. Lis couldn't help but be envious of the students with artistic talents- she was very much a sportswoman, and despite how much she loved art, she wasn't very good at it.
Oleracea was also very nice, and Lis enjoyed talking to her- but before she knew it, the school day was over, and it was time to go home.

Lis didn't realize how tired she was until she got home. Her shoulders still ached from training the previous day, and her mind was spinning with all the new information and new faces. She couldn't wait to just climb into bed and sleep.
But of course, Arabella and Peter wanted to know how her day had been. The orientation itself was pretty much unremarkable, but Lis gladly shared all the friends she had seen that day. She'd promised to invite Sophia and Amarachi over soon, and of course Aeris and Channing would want to hang out... she was going to be busy this week!

Thankfully, Arabella and Peter could tell she was tired and soon sent her off to bed. She would get some sleep, and tomorrow would be a new day!
Only two days left till Harvestfest. She put a mark in her calendar, then collapsed into bed. Maybe tomorrow, she would invite some friends over. But for now? It was time to sleep.

Oleracea Vegworth belongs to Plumeria Play, one of my favorite Sims YouTubers, and I'm excited to include her in the background of my series!
If you have a Sim you would like me to include in the background, let me know, I would love to get more people's creations in here!
