Drama Life
Lost Legacies Event - Week 2
Even after her late night, Aurelia still rose early the next morning. Her first classes began on Tuesday, but assignments started today, and she didn't intend to start the term behind.
She still wasn't used to the quiet- it almost felt unnatural, and she found herself switching on the news broadcast just to have something in the background.
Britechester was beautiful, though, she would give it that. Doing her morning yoga routine out on the balcony as the sun came up, seeing the leaves drifting down from the trees in the breeze- it was peaceful, outside. It didn't feel so unnaturally quiet.
She still missed the city, though, and decided that maybe getting a job would help with missing the hustle and bustle. There were plenty of retail stores around Britechester, and most of them were hiring.
The sky threatened rain, so Aurelia did what she could of her presentation for The Tempest Inside before it hit. She wished she could've gotten an apartment in her cousins' building- as cozy as this one was, there was no extra space inside, forcing most of her hobbies and large projects onto the balconies.
When the rain finally drove Aurelia from the balcony, she decided to head back to the Laurel Library to work on some homework. To her surprise, the Royal Envoy was there again- this time muttering to herself as she furiously tapped on her keyboard. Aurelia didn't quite catch everything- something about the "Capps?"
Come to think of that, Aurelia had heard that name on the news this morning too. Emboldened by her curiosity, she decided to approach the Envoy. Marina seemed surprised and a bit nervous to see her. "Oh! I didn't expect to see you again so quickly." She stammered out.
"Yes, well, I'm nothing if not determined." Aurelia remarked lightly. "The Capps were on the news today, do you know anything about them?"
"The Capps, yes... they were quite captivated by romance. Why don't you get into the mindset of love and see if you can whip up any clues. You don't mind if I snoop, err- look around here while you're doing that, do you?"
It was almost comical how poorly the Envoy disguised her less than clandestine intentions. Aurelia would keep playing along for now- she never thought her acting would have such a real life application.
"Oh, of course. I'll let you know if I find anything."
"Mindset of love..." what kind of half-cooked riddle was that? Homework put out of her mind for now, Aurelia delved into the archives of the Simternet once again, this time looking for information on the Capp Dynasty. After doom-scrolling for a little longer than was probably healthy, she finally uncovered an article reporting on the Capps' romantic inclinations and love for the piano.
They'd had their fair share of scandals, it seemed. Interestingly, though, there was a hint about their involvement in early online dating. Who knew?
Aurelia was pulled from her search by a message pinging on her phone- from Eren. He was in Britechester, and wanted to know if she could see him. Heart skipping a beat, Aurelia didn't hesitate to say yes, inviting him to join her at the library.
So he did. Aurelia was slightly amused to find that they now shared the same wardrobe color scheme, and a little bit flattered when he admitted he'd been inspired by her.
Eren had started work at Smogue Incorporated. He was just a Rag Reviewer right now, but he hoped to eventually climb up to being a Stylist or Trendsetter. Aurelia was excited for him- he'd always enjoyed fashion design in their art classes.
While they shared a kiss behind the bookshelf, a glint caught Aurelia's eye. When she turned to investigate, there was another key- just sitting there, wedged between a couple of books. How odd! Upon examination, this one also seemed royal in nature- old, tarnished silver with elaborate filigree, and clearly didn't belong to anything found in the library. She decided to hold onto this one as well for now, until she learned more.
When Aurelia finished her assignments at the library, she invited Eren to join her in the apartment for a little while. He couldn't stay too long, but agreed to come over, and they spent a nice couple hours snuggling and watching romance.
In the show they put on, one of the protagonists found love at a nightclub- maybe she'd find a clue to the Envoy's riddle at one? It seemed absurd, but it couldn't hurt to try- and she wouldn't mind a night out.
After Eren went home, Aurelia headed out to Willow Creek again. She'd invited him to come, but he'd declined- he had work first thing in the morning, he said, but he promised to come visit her again soon. Maybe they could go grab dinner? Aurelia liked the sound of that.
The Blue Velvet Nightclub was bustling with activity when she got there, including several of her family members- apparently her aunts had decided it was time for a girls night out. Aurelia politely avoided them as much as she could, not especially in the mood to socialize with them.
She loved them dearly, truly, but sometimes it was nice to have a night out without running into them.
To Aurelia's slight befuddlement, the Envoy was also at the Nightclub. She was beginning to think this woman was tracking her, the way she showed up at every location... but Marina's surprised and nervous reaction to seeing her seemed to dismiss that theory. They must just be following the same trail of clues.
When Aurelia approached her, Marina was mumbling something about the fireplace. When she innocently inquired, though, the Envoy was quick to deny having said anything.
"What? Oh, I wasn't saying anything. Just enjoying the atmosphere! It's quite romantic, don't you think?"
"I suppose so." Aurelia agreed neutrally.
"Yes, well... enjoy the music!" Marina exclaimed before rushing off again. That woman was always in a hurry.
Aurelia found a less busy area to sit and enjoy her drink, listening to the music as the nightclub patrons danced and celebrated. The DJ tonight was doing an excellent job, and the mood in the club was very high.
She was starting to tire, though, and classes started tomorrow- maybe it was time to turn in.
Just as she was about to leave, though, something in the fireplace caught her eye. Something was just slightly off about the unlit firewood inside. Rolling up her sleeves, Aurelia carefully brushed aside the cold soot and ashes to discover a third key.
This one was gold, with a spiraling shaft that ended in an elaborately curved handle that resembled the branches of a tree, and a diamond shaped crest in the center. This was the Capp Family Key, Aurelia was sure- though that left the question of what the tarnished silver key from the library belonged to.
Aurelia pocketed the key and slipped out of the nightclub before the Envoy could find her again. If she needed to, she would return the keys to the noble families herself, but she did not trust Marina.
Hey all! I hope you're enjoying the series so far!
I forgot to mention it, but I now have an Instagram! If you want to see the builds for this save as they come to life, or be notified about new posts as they come out, you can follow me there!
I am planning tentatively on making Tuesdays my regular post days from now on, and will probably only be posting once per week at least through the school term. So, I'll see you all next week!
