Lis Bellerose - Friends and Rivals (Generation 3, Chapter 14)

 Friends and Rivals

Summer camp day two started bright and early, at 6am. Breakfast was served in the main cabin, and they were told about what they would be doing that day.
"Today's all about mental skills. There's science tables set up by the patio, and there's also game and chess tables you can use. Your Counselors will be around if you need mentoring. Go out and have fun!"

Lis didn't want to wait to be the last person in the activity this time, so as soon as she finished breakfast she ran out to claim a science table. She had one of these at home, a little alchemy table where Arabella taught her about potions. This was just as cool!

As the other kids came to use the science tables too, Lis tried to strike up a conversation with a girl named Brittni, who took the table beside her. Brittni looked her up and down, and seemed to scoff.
"What are you, an alien? What kind of a name is Lis?"
Lis wasn't expecting that, and quickly felt the heat rising in her cheeks. "It's short for Lisabeth!" She answered defensively.
"Oh, so you're just boring. Boring people can't be aliens. Don't talk to me."
How mean! Lis was fuming now, and soon abandoned her science table. She had no interest in playing alongside a bully!

"Lis, come play cards with us!" Aeris called her over. Lis's anger quickly faded, joining Aeris and Channing at the game table.
"What are you so mad about?" Channing asked Lis.
"That girl, Brittni. First she called me an alien, then she said I was too boring to be an alien!"
"She's one to talk." Aeris declared. "I share a cabin with her, she has eyes like a blackhole."
"I was just trying to say hi, I dunno why she had to be so mean." Lis grumbled. "Anyway, let's play. I don't wanna give her the satisfaction."

The afternoon period that day was spent on general outdoor play. One of the other boys, Ishaan, brought his marbles collection to camp and invited Lis and Channing to play with him. Lis quickly became obsessed with the round, shiny marbles. She wanted a collection of her own!

Lis also played hopscotch with Aeris, with an added challenge of not falling off the dock into the water as they balanced precariously on the chalk squares. Don't get wet!

Unfortunately, Lis's fun didn't go uninterrupted. Brittni came to tease her again, this time mocking Lis for losing her balance during hopscotch.
"Why are you being so mean, Brittni?" Lis yelled at her. "What's your problem?"
Brittni just laughed and walked away. Only an Evil Sim could be so careless!

Lis avoided Brittni for the rest of the afternoon. At least there was nothing she could do in front of the counselors, when they gathered around the fire to roast hot dogs and marshmallows again. The second day had gone by so fast- how was it already sunset?

There were only three days left of camp, and it was time to make them count! On Wednesday morning Lis decided to try a smoothie, under the supervision of one of the counselors to make sure she didn't hurt herself.
Today was creativity day, which Lis was very excited for. She had loved art and photography ever since her adventures to the Sylvan Glade with Pixie, her loyal stuffed animal. Maybe she'd draw something to take home for her parents!

Lis decided to make some summer crafts on the drawing table, a reminder of her time at camp. It was a cloudy morning, and seemed like it might rain at any moment, but it never quite actually made it there. Man, it was hot though!

Papercraft kits were available for the children to use too, and Lis decided to try her hand at paper mache. It was a little lumpy in places, but she finished a gray cat!

During social hour, Lis and Channing declared themselves Best Friends Forever, promising that no matter what, they would always be together.
Lis wanted to make friendship bracelets to seal the deal, but to her dismay, the kit was empty. So many other kids had already made best friends here!

Around the campfire that evening, Lis tried to get to know some of the other kids too. She'd met Aeris's sister Erin earlier- apparently their dad was the camp director? That was cool! She didn't get along with Erin as well as she got along with Aeris, though.
She met a kid named Buddy that evening, who was really into collectibles. He challenged her to a game of rock paper scissors, offering to give her one if she won. Obviously, she agreed! She did end up winning, and he gave her a piece of alcron. Cool!
Summer camp was turning out to be everything she'd hoped and more. When she called Arabella that evening, she told her, "This is the best thing I've ever done!"
Two days of fun remained, and she couldn't wait to make the most of them.
