Our fourth family for the Around the World Legacy are the Chengs. Carin is the middle sister of the triplets, and grew up feeling quite, well- squished in the middle, in a house that was never intended to have a family of seven living in it. Maybe it was this that drove her to be as successful as she's become.
Carin left home as soon as she aged up. She loves her family, of course, but she was ready to stretch her wings and establish herself somewhere else- and what better place to do that than San Myshuno?
(This is about the point of the save where I started documenting things more professionally, hence additional screenshots for this recap!)
Carin moved into a tiny studio apartment and got a job as a writer for a high-end magazine, planning to work her way up from there. She also adopted a cat, who she named Duchess, and started learning to play the piano. One of her main assignments was to visit and write about San Myshuno's weekly festivals, and it was here that she met Saiyan.
Saiyan Cheng, when Carin met him, was a low-level entertainer with hopes of eventually becoming a Comedian. He was raised on a ranch in Chestnut Ridge until his parents passed unexpectedly and the land had to be sold. After that he was raised by his grandparents, who had both also passed away by the time he moved to San Myshuno.
He and Carin clicked quickly- a mutual love of the new city they're living in and a shared passion for the creative arts brought them together immediately.
Carin and Saiyan's first meeting.
Carin proposed to Saiyan after two seasons.
Carin's wedding was the last one Carlos attended- he would not live to see Arabella's.
Career focused as the two of them were, Saiyan and Carin only had one child: a daughter named Aurelia. She is their pride and joy, an accomplished girl who will surely be successful and famous when she grows up.
How can one have all the attention in the world and yet still be overshadowed? This has been Aurelia's internal struggle since entering high school. Her parents adore her, would move the world for her- but they also expect so much of her.
Aurelia's father? A TV-famous comedian. Her mother? The most renowned art critic in San Myshuno. The shadows they cast are long, and her shoes don't quite fill in the prints they've left behind. They've been encouraging her to go into acting, after her success in Drama Club, but what if her passions don't lie there? What if she wants to go to the stars, instead?
Aurelia loves stargazing! The city isn't always the best place for it, but it's still beautiful.
Aurelia's two closest friends are the Hattori twins, Sakura and Eren. Sakura is chill and laidback, belying her intimidating appearance. She looks out for Aurelia, making sure she doesn't fall prey to the school bully's antics.
Aurelia's friendship with Eren started as just that, but quickly evolved into something more. He was kind, a little bit of a nerd, and an incredible listener. He made her feel free in a way she'd never felt before.
Eren and Sakura are raised by Rubi Hattori, a single mother working as an art critic for the Mt. Komorebi branch of Sim Art Magazine. They don't know their father- Rubi never talks about him, and neither of them have ever had much reason to ask.
Eren was enamored with Aurelia from the moment he first saw her hanging out with his sister. She was sunshine incarnate- so full of life and enthusiasm. Normally quite shy, he found himself coming out of his shell around her. Is this what it feels like to find one's soulmate?
First date at the Waterside Warble Cafe in San Myshuno.
Oh my, that got heated quickly.
Aurelia still has quite a while of high school left, so it remains to be seen what else she gets up to! Carin and Saiyan have both maxed out their careers and completed (or nearly completed) their aspirations, so their story is about winding down.
We're almost through the recaps! One more to go, then on to regular story!
Thank you for reading!
