Lis Bellerose - Welcome to Camp Gibbi Gibbi! (Generation 3 #13)

 Welcome to Camp Gibbi Gibbi!

Down in Glimmerbrook, Arabella and Lis had just come home from shopping in Magnolia Promenade. Lis needed a new dress for Liliana's wedding, and after much debate, they settled on a pretty, wine red layered dress with a bow in the back. She tried it on at home, and Arabella tied her hair into elaborate braids with roses in it that looked really good but were a little bit itchy.
"It'll just be a few hours." Arabella reassured her as she took the flowers back out. "You look like a little princess in that. Now go put it away- we need to pack your bags for summer camp."

Yes, Lis was going to summer camp for the very first time! Camp Gibbi Gibbi awaited! She was beyond excited- it would be completely different from anything she'd ever done before.
She was a little nervous, though, about being away from home for a whole week. What if she got homesick?
Arabella and Peter promised her they'd call every night if she wanted, but they were absolutely certain she would have a great time.

In the morning, Arabella prepared a hearty breakfast to send Lis off with. "You'll need your energy for all the activities."
"Do you know what we're doing?" Lis asked eagerly as she shoveled down her breakfast.
"They sent me your agenda, yes. Today you'll be doing outdoor activities like kayaking and archery, and then on Tuesday you'll be focusing on mental skills. There'll be card games, science tables, that sort of thing."
    "What about Wednesday?"
"Wednesday is a Creativity Day. You'll be making papercrafts, drawings, and I think there was a mention of a hike to see the Geyser. Thursday is Social Day, you'll be doing group activities, and then I believe Friday is a free day."
"That all sounds fun." Lis decided. "I'll have to take pictures of the geyser for you."
"That would be very nice, sweetheart."

Once Lis had finished breakfast, it was time to go. Peter gave her a big hug goodbye, and told her, "You'll be so busy having fun, you won't have time to miss us. Go have lots of adventures, alright? We'll see you Friday evening."

Lis arrived at Camp Gibbi Gibbi just after 9am, along with most of the other campers. To her absolute delight, among the campers was her friend, Channing! (Who had recently been adopted by Queen Bianca, but Lis didn't care about the status of that so much.)
"I can't believe we're at camp together! This is awesome!"
"We're going to have so much fun this week." Channing declared, equally as enthusiastic to see her.

Lis soon made an introduction to another girl at camp, named Aeris Chavez-Ralston. Aeris was friendly and excited to be there, and Lis immediately knew they would be friends.
"This is my third summer at Camp Gibbi Gibbi." Aeris told her. "Usually I go every year, but last year my family went to Tartosa for the summer."
"I've always wanted to go to Tartosa, what was it like?"
"It was really pretty! The sand there is so soft, it's almost like snow!"

The kids were soon told to take their pick of playing on the playground equipment or practicing archery, and Lis and Aeris took off to the monkey bars together. Lis really wanted to do archery, but the targets had filled up so fast! She'd have to wait her turn.

Lis was the last person to get a turn on the archery targets, but that also meant that she got to spend the rest of outdoor time on it. She loved archery- maybe she could start a contest with the other kids at the end of camp!

At 1 o'clock, it was time for water activities! Most of the kids wanted to play in the water, but Lis decided to try one of  the kayaks. She liked swimming, but she didn't feel like spending a whole three hours directly in the water.
She quickly found out that she really, really liked kayaking. The lake was cool and glittering in the summer sun, and a pleasant breeze kept said sun from roasting her alive.

5 o'clock was dinner and campfire time! Everyone gathered around the big campfire as the sun set to roast hot dogs and marshmallows, and tell campfire stories! When it was Lis's turn, she made up a magical fairy tale about a giant and a princess. Her friends loved it!

By the time bedtime rolled around, Lis was exhausted. She'd meant to call her parents- but she was just so sleepy, and the top bunk looked so inviting...
She'd call them tomorrow, and tell them what a great time she had at her first day of summer camp.

Ella Evans - Vista Hermosa (Generation 3 #12)

 Vista Hermosa

Ella spent a few hours on Saturday afternoon putting together her valedictorian speech, and then practiced it in front of the mirror. She was the first person in her family to actually achieve valedictorian status, and she wanted to leave a good impression.

To her delight, Ava came over to hang out that same afternoon, fully recovered from her Llama Flu. Ella was eager to introduce her sister to her new pet- and get her opinion on her speech, since she was there.

Pudding wasn't thrilled about the stranger in his apartment, and tried very hard to be scary. It wasn't particularly effective, though, to his dismay. Ava was just as enamored with him as Ella was, and the kitten eventually begrudgingly accepted her affection as well.
He had to pretend he still wasn't happy about it, though.

After Ava left, Ella decided to take a walk around the neighborhood- get to know some of the local sights, take in the fresh air, and enjoy the sunshine.
And there was plenty of it! Compared to San Sequoia and its chilly coastal weather, Ciudad Enamorada was a perfect warm, sunny paradise. She was thriving here!
While she was on her walk, Ella found a copper axolotl stuck in a log. What an odd place for it! She decided to take it home until she could find a suitable pond to release it into.

Ella's route continued up the hill, where she found an ancient totem with butterflies and a lizard carved into it. She'd heard some of the locals talk about this at the cafe- an ancient totem that had been in the area for five hundred years!
Nobody seemed to remember what it was from or what it stood for, though- just that it was historical, and needed to be preserved.
Maybe if she visited a local library someday, she could figure it out. Not today, though.

The next local attraction Ella came across was the famous Wall of Love, where hundreds of couples had come and written out their affections for each other. Ella didn't know the names of the couple portrayed, but she was sure they were significant to Ciudad Enamorada's history- maybe a prince and princess, wouldn't that be romantic?
Something else to look up at the library.

After she had exhausted the sights around Vista Hermosa, Ella headed out to Plaza Mariposa to visit the Media Naranja Park. (She wasn't particularly interested in checking out the sketchy WooHoo motel across the street from her new home- she should've wondered why the lot was so cheap.)
While she was exploring the park, the sound of crying drew Ella's attention, and led her to... a man in a bear costume, it seemed? He seemed quite distressed, and Ella's compassion quickly won out.
"Why are you crying so? Is there something I can do to help?"
"Lots of reasons, friend." The bear sighed mournfully. "The main reason, though, is that I've lost my ring! Well... I sort of threw it in the nearby pond. I've tried fishing it out, but I'm terrible at fishing. That was always her thing... If you ever find it while you're fishing in the pond, would you let me know? That ring has some kind of special romantic magic about it... but I can tell you more about that later."

Ella's interest was engaged, and she had a few hours to kill until she had to leave for graduation, so... why not? She grabbed a fishing pole from the nearby tack shop and headed off to the pond. The ring was bound to turn up sooner or later, right?
To her disappointment, it did not turn up before she had to leave. She still needed to go home and put her hair up, and change. But she would come back next weekend, and keep looking- if someone else didn't find the ring for the poor bear before then.

Ella met her parents outside the Copperdale Auditorium to prepare for the ceremony. She had a card with her speech on it, and she'd rehearsed it in her head the entire train ride there.
Hopefully it would be enough- it would be so embarrassing to trip over everything in front of the entire school, and their families!

Kit arrived just in time for the ceremony, to Ella's relief. She'd been starting to worry, and she would've hated for him to miss her speech.
"Sorry I took so long, work kept me an extra hour, so I missed the train." Kit apologized. "I'm glad I made it on time."
"So am I." Ella agreed. "It wouldn't have been the same without you. How was work?"
As they continued the usual chatter, Alyssa watched them with a knowing smile. She remembered her daughter's high school crush, and wondered if perhaps something might come of it after all.

Social hour settled down, and Ella was called up to the stage for the Valedictorian speech. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves, then put on a bright smile and addressed the audience.
"My years at Copperdale High School have been some of the best. I've made a lot of friends and a lot of memories here, but now it's time for the next steps, and there's already been a lot of them! Just this summer, I moved to Ciudad Enamorada, I opened my dream cafe, and there's so much more to come. Thank you for a great high school experience, everyone, and good luck with whatever life has in store for you."

Ella Evans - Partners and Pets (Generation 3 #11)

 Partners and Pets

Ella started Friday morning watching the news, catching up on the happenings of the world. Things had been relatively quiet so far- Queen Bianca had adopted a son, though, named Channing. That was interesting enough. Nothing else major had happened since the discovery of Gibbi Point, though... which meant they were probably due for something soon, right?
Her Aunt Rose and her family had recently visited Gibbi Point, and compared it to Innisgreen- another beautiful, forested land with lots to explore and discover.
Hearing their stories of exploration had Ella wanting to go out and explore Ciudad Enamorada more- maybe look for some of those axolotls she'd heard about.

The day seemed to drag on forever this time, the thrill of first opening the doors quickly replaced by the monotony of the day-to-day operation of the business. She really needed to get some more employees in here, soon...
Only so much to do right now when Ava was out with the Llama Flu.
Being out on her own had already led Ella to discover two new traits about herself, though- the meticulous detail she put into the pastries and drinks she crafted in the cafe had led her to discover she was quite the Perfectionist.

Ella continued to befriend the local stray cats, including one who Ella suspected wasn't actually a stray, given how well cared for it looked. Just the same, she was happy to see it when it came by, and always had a treat on hand.
After she closed up the cafe for the evening, Ella called Kit, asking him if he was available to go out that night.
He was quick to say yes! Ella suggested they meet at the Mirador del Amor Nightclub. Music, dancing, maybe some bar drinks? Perfect place for a romantic first date.

Ella met Kit outside the nightclub entrance, and decided not to waste any time. Before they even went inside, they shared their first kiss. Her excitement and daydreams about this date had led her to discover she was quite the Romantic... she foresaw a fairy tale for herself, just like Liliana's.

The two of them moved inside and began to talk. Kit had just moved to San Myshuno for his new job, and was excited about the opportunities it offered.
"There's a lot I can do to help people, as I move further up." He explained. "It'll set me on the path to become a Politician or a Charity Organizer, whichever path appeals more when I get there."
"That's great!" Ella exclaimed. "You could be the next National Leader!"
"We'll see about that." Kit laughed. "How about you, how's the cafe?"
"Gaining renown. I need to hire people, though. Ava's helping me out for now but she goes back to school in a couple weeks."
"I'm sure you'll find someone soon."

The evening passed in a flash, and before Ella knew it, it was almost midnight. How had the night just slipped away like that? It felt as if they'd just arrived.
And now Kit needed to be getting home- he had work in the morning. Before they parted, though, Ella blurted out, "Will you be my boyfriend? Let's do this again?"
Kit appeared surprised, but delighted. "I'd love that." He agreed. "Let's call it official."

Ella got home not too long after that, stopping to collect the mail before she headed inside. She was glowing with the joy and thrill of a new relationship, and couldn't wait to see what came next for them.
She'd decided she would close the cafe on weekends, to give herself a couple days off, so she could sleep in for a bit tomorrow after the late night out.

In the morning, Ella decided that her new home was a little too empty with just her rattling around there. It was time to adopt a cat of her own, since none of the strays seemed interested in staying longer than a night.

Ella called up the local shelter, and soon a woman named Alina arrived with a few kittens to choose between. After talking to Ella and verifying that the home would be suitable, she let the kittens out to visit and for Ella to choose between.

Ella ended up falling in love with a calico kitten named Pudding, who was clearly full of energy and mischief. He was the perfect choice to bring some liveliness to her too-quiet home.

With the evaluation over, Ella took her new kitten upstairs and spent the rest of the afternoon playing with him. At least, until she remembered- she had to prepare a Valedictorian speech for tomorrow!

Ella Evans - Ella's Cat Cafe (Generation 3 #10)

 Ella's Cat Cafe

Early Tuesday morning, Ella packed up her things to leave. Alyssa and Henry saw her out, and bid her a warm goodbye. "Let us know if you ever need anything, and don't forget to call us when your business opens."
    "I will, Mama. Thank you."

Ella's new home was located in the neighborhood of Vista Hermosa, in Ciudad Enamorada. Downstairs was a charming cafe, and the second floor was a cozy apartment.
She hadn't thought much about branding, yet, but she knew she wanted her business to be a cat cafe. She also knew she wanted to sell baked goods, like cakes and cookies- baking with her mother had always been such a treasured childhood memory.

The first thing Ella invested in was some chickens. She got three hens, which she named Mary, Suzy, and Perla. She would need a lot of eggs! Unfortunately, her new lot didn't have enough space for a cow, or she would've gotten one of those as well.

With her things unpacked and her chickens settled in, Ella headed off to Henford-on-Bagley. There was no better place for fresh fruits and ingredients than the Henford market! She'd have to stop by the Spice Festival in San Myshuno sometime too, and see if there was anything worth picking up there.

Once she had finished her errands, Ella returned to her new home and started cooking. Prepping batter, frosting, and other ingredients before starting to bake cakes for the cafe. She hoped to open this weekend, and there was lots to be done before then.

That afternoon, Ava stopped by to visit and see her sister's new place. After Ella showed her around, Ava hung out in the back kitchen with her while Ella continued baking.
"You still looking for a job, sis?" Ella wondered.
"I am, yeah, to fill the summer. Why?"
"I'll need a barista for the coffee bar. You want the job? It would really help me out."
"I'd love to. I can only do it for a couple weeks, though."
"That's perfectly fine, it'll just help me get started."

Ella's new home was a hot spot for stray cats from all over the neighborhood, and she spent her free moments befriending as many as she could. Maybe one of them would eventually want to stay!

Ella's new room was perfectly cozy, decked out in her favorite colors. The fireplace would be nice when chilly winter came, but for now it remained unlit.
Her only wish was that the home wasn't quite so small- it wasn't really ideal for hosting her family.

On Thursday morning, after a couple days of baking and preparing, Ella opened the doors of Ella's Cat Cafe for the first time. She could barely contain her excitement- she was sure it would be great!

Ella's cafe received a fair amount of traffic for being the first day it was open. Everyone in the neighborhood was eager to check out the newest business in town, and Ella's quickly gained a little bit of renown! By the end of the day, she was able to add a tip jar!

Ella closed the cafe at 5pm, and headed upstairs to have dinner and settle in for the evening. While she was cooking, she received a message from Kit. Putting down the pot on the stove, she opened the message.
"Hey, I'm sorry if this is bothering you, but I couldn't wait any longer to say something. I've had a crush on you since the first time I saw you, and couldn't work up the courage to say anything until now. Would you be willing to go out on a date with me?"
Ella's heart almost skipped a beat. Kit had a crush on her? He could've had anyone!
"Yes." She texted back. "Let's find a day."
